I came here for my birthday this year and I loved every morsel of food so much! It's taken me a long time to try out Saint Jacques, mostly because it's in a shopping center and has literally zero curb appeal. I will say that the experience is dampened by the location because it doesn't feel as special as it could feel given a more unique location. But I'll stop griping!
The food however is phenomenal. We started off with wine and cocktails, both of which were generous and delicious. The complimentary bread is also great. For an app we shared the foie gras which was nicely prepared although small which is standard. The flavors went well together!
For entrees my husband got a special of the night which was a fish entree and he loved it. I ordered the duck and SWEET JESUS it was incredible. One of the best meals I've ever had and definitely the best duck I've ever had. I wanted to lick the plate it was so dang good. I made sure I didn't leave one crumb! Perfectly cooked and tender, loaded with flavor. Amazing.
For dessert my husband got the s'mores dessert and I got the butternut squash and chocolate cake. They brought it out with a candle and writing on the plate which was a nice touch. Service was great and I loved the amuse bouche. Overall a wonderful meal even if it felt like I was dining in my grandmas house! Lol -

Saint Jacques is true fine dining. You wouldn't think you'd find such a place in a strip mall, but there it resides.
The head chef came over to give us a little dish most comparable to a cheese creme brulee, though it's probably called something fancier.
To start, we had the salmon and ravioli to split. The waitress brought over the appetizer in two bowls, since we mentioned we would be splitting it, which was very considerate. I could have eaten the entire appetizer myself; it was absolutely delicious. The sauce was very creamy and not overpowering; it worked very well with the salmon and ravioli.
For my entree, I had the filet mignon, which was tender, with potato cakes, cherry tomatoes, and spinach. It was all great.
For dessert, I had the apple tart with ice cream. The ice cream actually kept its shape for a considerable amount of time, allowing it to melt slowly onto the tart. The only enhancement I can think of would be for the apples to be slightly sweeter -- more of a preference thing.
This isn't an everyday-restaurant, from the menu prices, but it's a staple for a special occasion.

I've been to Saint Jacques a few times now and I've never been disappointed with the food or service.
Of the four times that I've been, I only had reservations one of those times and still managed to be seated fairly quickly (I have only been to Saint Jacques on Thursdays and Fridays).
Each time I go, the wait staff does an amazing job of explaining dishes and specials. They even offer great suggestions and wine parings.
App wise, I recommend ordering:
Ris de veau sautée jardinière de légume, jus de champignon (sweet breads) or Coquille Saint Jacques (sea scallops and shrimp). I'd say each appetizer is enough for 2-3 people to share.
Main course wise , I recommend ordering:
If you're in the north hills area, it's worth your time to stop in to try some amazing french food. -

If you are passionate about French food and live in Raleigh this is a must go! It has been on my list for years, and I finally went last weekend. Truly the best French food in Raleigh, amazing atmosphere, and a chef who really cares about his food and his customers! He goes from table to table greeting guests and explaining dishes. We had the escargot, the scallops, the Boeuf Bourguignon, the duck with pomegranate sauce (the best duck in Raleigh) and finished with the classic vanilla creme brûlée! Seriously you have got to go!

This is our second time coming here, both times on Valentine's Day and it didn't disappoint. It is a bit pricey but it is worth every penny. The staff was very attentive, the chef brought us our appetizer, and the entire experience was fine dining at its best.
We didn't know which wine we wanted so the manager brought us several to try before we bought the bottle. And it paired perfectly with the meal.
The entire menu was superb and we will definitely be back again!
